The Charters Towers Rodeo Association is made up of both new and old volunteer committee members who put their hands up to ensure local representation in the sport of rodeo, and continuation of the signature rodeo event for Charters Towers - the Heart of the Goldfields Rodeo.
 

An important event for both local competitors and the wider rural community who look forward to connecting socially, the Heart of the Goldfields Rodeo is held annually in July at the Dalrymple Equestrian Centre.

The Heart of the Goldfields Rodeo is fast becoming a signature event in North Queensland selling out year after year and attracting thousands of spectators from right across Australia.

 
In 2021 it was awarded Community Event of the year at the annual Australia Day awards and in 2023 was in the top four Australian Professional rodeos as voted by the competitors.

 
In 2024 the rodeo will expand to include both Friday and Saturday entertainment with live music both nights.
